Are you Interested in Becoming a Mountain Bike Ambassador? Summer of 2021
Interest and involvement in mountain biking have continued to increase at Blackhawk. Last year, we had a record number of mountain bike members—selling more than 500 individual and 500 family mountain bike memberships. With this increased interest, we have learned that we can improve our membership experience, helping new members learn about the programs that we offer, how to navigate the trails, and the best times to ride to avoid crowds and lessons.
Therefore, this year we are planning to start a “Bike Ambassador” program. Ambassadors have become increasingly common at clubs and trails around the country, to improve member experience, answer questions about the programs and facilities, and promote safe riding.
What is a “Bike Ambassador?” A Bike Ambassador is someone who comes to the Club at a regular time each week, to interact with members, answer questions, promote safe riding, and simply be the face of the club. We are looking to recruit 25-30 Ambassadors this summer for this pilot program.
How much time is required? Ambassadors will commit to spending about 2 hours at the Club each week, during a specific time. Since we are just starting this program, we are not sure about the specific times that would be best to have an Ambassador there. At this time, we anticipate that there will be 10 times needed during the week (4-6 and 6-8 PM each weekday) and 10 times on weekends (10-12, 12-2, 2-4, 4-6, and 6-8 PM on Saturdays and Sundays).
What if I can’t make my shift or if the weather is bad? We will have alternate ambassadors who can come if you are not able to make your time. If it’s raining, then there is no need to come. But there may be times when having a person this is helpful, if the trails are not quite ready to ride following a rain.
What are the benefits? First, you will be able to spend time out on the trails, having fun and talking with our members. You’ll also be listed on our webpage and get a “Blackhawk Bike Ambassador” t-shirt to wear when you’re there. Finally, as a small token of appreciation, we’ll provide a $50 gift certificate to Wheel and Sprocket Bikes in Middleton.
