Seasonal Mountain Bike Trail Maintenance Crew Member for CORP Trails and Blackhawk Ski Club
Location: Madison Wisconsin and surrounding area
Job Type: Seasonal (40 hrs/week preferred)
Position Overview: We are seeking a reliable and dedicated individual for the role of Seasonal Mountain
Bike Trail Maintenance Crew Member. This position involves maintaining and improving Blackhawk’s trails
(about 20 hrs/week) and CORP Trails mountain bike trail systems (about 20 hrs/week), ensuring that the
trails are in optimal condition for the riding public. You will work closely with experienced trail stewards,
assist in prioritizing tasks, and be the public face of the organization when interacting with the riding
community. If you have a passion for mountain biking, trail stewardship, and working in the outdoors, this

Primary Responsibilities:
• Mowing, weed whacking, and clearing brush from designated trails.
• Identifying and reporting trail issues such as erosion, fallen trees, or trail damage.
• Conducting basic trail maintenance, including the use of hand tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, McLeods)
and power tools (e.g., weed whackers, walk-behind trimmers).
• Working collaboratively with trail stewards to prioritize and address trail maintenance needs.
• Assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of multiple trail systems.
• Communicating with the riding public, providing information, and answering questions about the
trails and trail conditions.
• Ensuring safety protocols are followed during maintenance work.
• Performing other duties as assigned related to trail maintenance and improvement.
Qualifications:
• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to multiple job sites in Dane County
• Basic understanding of trail design and maintenance needs.
• Ability to use hand tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, McLeods) and selected power tools (e.g., weed
whackers, walk-behind trimmers).
• Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with the public.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and take direction from experienced trail stewards.
• A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
• Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
• Comfortable working in outdoor environments, in various weather conditions.
Additional Desired Skills:
• Previous experience in trail maintenance or similar outdoor work is a plus.
• Experience with basic trail building or repair techniques.
• Knowledge of mountain biking and trail use best practices.
Details:
• $17-20 / hour
• 40 hrs / week is preferred, but negotiable
• Seasonal position (May – September, negotiable).
