Mountain Biking Plans for 2021

We have exciting plans for the 2021 Mountain Biking season, building on the success of our programs and trail building over the past 5 years.

  • Programs:

    • Youth Lessons: We're planning our 9th season with two sessions in the summer of 2021.

    • Race Team: The NICA race team will continue in the summer of 2021, under the leadership of Dirk Horne. More detail to follow.

    • Girl's lessons: We're planning to pilot a small girl's only mountain bike lesson this summer. Details available soon.

    • Ninja Camps: We're planning our third annual partnership with Ninja and offering three summer bike camps in June and August, and October. More details to follow

    • Bike Ambassadors: We are planning to develop a "Bike Ambassador" program this year, to improve member experience, answer questions about our programs and facilities, and promote safe riding. If you're interested in becoming an ambassador, please contact Pat Remington (

  • Trail Building and Maintenance: We are planning to maintain and improve our existing trails, through a contract with Jeremy Witek and help from volunteers.

    • Improve the safety of Howling Wolff, removing Ash trees that have been killed by the Emerald Ash Borer.

    • Improve the intermediate downhill "flow" trail in the Gully that was built last year.

    • Improve the existing "Expert Jump Line" in the Gully

    • Possibly build a pump track near the Skills Area, and/or create a beginner skills course near the East Chalet.

  • Memberships: Given the high cost of trail repairs, equipment maintenance, and our program costs, we need to increase the membership rates this summer.  We will keep the $25 membership rate for students and increase the single memberships to $45 and the family memberships to $90 (April 1-October 31). At the same time, we do not want membership or program costs to prevent anyone from participating due to financial hardship. Therefore, scholarships can be requested during the registration process.
