Biathlon Clinic / Introduction June 20 and 21, 2020

There will be biathlon clinic the weekend of June 21 and 22 at Blackhawk Ski Club. This clinic will be limited to 10 persons participating total to keep exposure and the chance of spreading Covid to a minimum. See a separate sheet for Blackhawk Ski Club - Covid practices. Preference for sign up will be given to youth participants. Adults are welcome if slots are not filled by youth. The clinic is for experienced and new biathletes as participants will be divided into two groups by experience level. New biathletes will leave this clinic safety certified and be able to participate in open races in the future. This clinic will cover safety aspects of biathlon, rifle fit, fundamentals of good shooting, range procedures, shooting drills, shooting with a heart rate after running, include a shooting test and if time and weather allows, roller skiing and a final time trial (running and shooting) Sunday afternoon.

For anyone coming from out of town, camping will be available at Blackhawk Ski Club on Friday June 19th and Saturday June 20th. Youth planning to camp at Blackhawk will need a parent or other guardian to be with them. There are also several hotels and restaurants near Blackhawk Ski Club. There will be limited access to the chalet including drinking water and restrooms. Lunch will be provided for participants on Saturday and Sunday, but breakfast and dinner will be on your own. Bring water and other beverages you may need. If possible, we will plan a socially distant campfire Saturday evening. A very limited number of biathlon rifles are available for the clinic. Rifles will not be shared during the clinic due to concerns for spreading Covid. Participants should bring a face mask, hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes. It is suggested that participants bring their own standard velocity 22 target ammo, 500 rounds should be enough for the clinic. Some ammo will be available for sale if needed. Participants should bring roller ski equipment and clothes that are weather and activity appropriate, snacks, water and mosquito repellent (just in case). Cost for the camp will be $70 for youth, $100 for adults and $10 for a lunch for any parent with a youth. If you are interested in coming to this clinic please contact Mark Torresani at or 608 334-2846. Payment and signup will be on site prior to the start of the clinic
