Rick Hardy, President
My family joined Blackhawk in 2008 when my oldest child starting taking alpine lessons. Both of my children have participated in alpine lessons, Nordic Kids and mountain biking lessons. I started volunteering at Blackhawk by splitting wood, teaching alpine lessons and helping out during the first mountain biking lessons. I currently make snow and I groom the hills once a week. I joined the board in 2017 and the next year became the club treasurer. Since joining Blackhawk, I have taken up cross country skiing and I now spend a lot of my time in the summer taking advantage of our great mountain biking trails.
Kelsey Berg, Vice President
I grew up skiing and realized I loved teaching and coaching kids to ski and race. My family joined the club somewhere around 2015. I help with the alpine ski and board school and youth mountain biking program. When I’m not teaching, you will often find me at the club with my kids doing something active.
Amy Grunewald Mattison, Past President
My family joined Blackhawk in 2013 after I signed up for the Birkie and needed to find artificial snow. I arrived at a closed east gate early one morning and tromped through the woods before I found a set of classic tracks winding through the pines. When I came to Leonard's way and looked out over the valley, I knew this would be a special place for our growing family. Our twin sons joined Nordic Kids the same year and now ski on the high school team. Our youngest son is heading in the same direction but he also enjoys mountain biking and ski exploration. I bought a mountain bike last summer to try to keep up with him (not likely) and am making time to ride our amazing trails, though it's hard to decide with all the trails and hills to run! My professional background is in teaching and ministry. In 2017 I became the Nordic Kids Program Director and I love working with our youngest skiers in lessons. I joined the board in 2018 and am currently serving as President, a role I am honored to be in after the many generous leaders who have come before me.
Andrea Dlugos, Secretary
Andrea Dlugos has been a Blackhawk member for 3 years where you'll often find her shredding the MTB trails. In the winter she enjoys fat biking and nordic skiing. She has been one of the Bike Ambassadors this year and joined the Board this Spring. Her husband Mike is also a very active volunteer at Blackhawk who does lots of work on the trails and even grooming the alpine hills in the winter. Their son Byrne races downhill and enduro for Ft. Lewis College in Durango, CO. Andrea's day job is co-manager of Wisconsin Investment Partners, Wisconsin's largest angel investor network where she helps startup companies get funding. She also shares her love of cycling by working part-time at Trek Madison West.

Ben Walker
I've been an avid skier since I was a child and my family joined Blackhawk in 2013. Both my children learned to ski there and spent some time on race team. Through the Explorers program, my son became interested in ski jumping and has been competing throughout the Central Division for the last four years. I have been significantly involved with the program as a parent volunteer and am grateful for the opportunity to serve on the board. I also enjoy mountain biking at Blackhawk and around Dane County, and am trying to show my children the joys of skate skiing. When not at Blackhawk or driving to ski jumps around the Midwest, I am a pediatric anesthesiologist at American Family Children's Hospital.
Ken Matusek
We have been members of Blackhawk since 1988 and needless to say there have been numerous changes in the club since then. Particularly, in the number of programs that the club now offers. In 1991, I joined the ski patrol as a way to volunteer at the club. I became ski patrol director in 1992 and held that position until June of 2022. I have been very active recruiting and training ski patrol candidates and patrollers over that period of time. I am gratified by how the patrol has grown and how skilled that group is. This is my second stint on the Blackhawk board, and I enjoy working with this hard-working group of dedicated volunteers
Brian Utschig
Our family joined Blackhawk during the pandemic. We fell in love with the place. I joined ski patrol the next year to contribute to the club. Our son loves alpine ski racing on the BART team. Our young daughter started skiing last year. In summer, you’ll see us out on the MTB trails where I also bike patrol. In addition to serving on the board, I also now help teach the National Ski Patrol certification courses for emergency medical skills, skiing, biking, and toboggan handling skills to aspiring patrollers.
Carin Bouchard
We joined Blackhawk in 2021 so my son could learn how to ski. After joining, we quickly realized all that the club has to offer and since then have enjoyed many days out at Blackhawk having fun and making friends. I started teaching ski and mountain bike lessons in 2022 and joined the board in 2024.
