January newsletter
Dear Members,
As the weather zigs and zags, we’re grateful to our snowmaking crew for the consistently available snow at Blackhawk!
Winter reminders:
- As you recreate, we want to remind everyone that hiking is not allowed on any ski or fat bike trail, but we encourage snowshoeing (please stay on the fat bike trails)! You can also hike at Pope Farm across the road (no dogs allowed). Likewise, we ask fat bikers not to ride on any ski trails.
- You must use 4WD/AWD to get to the bottom of the hill where biathlon/ski jumping/Nordic skiing take place.
- Please pick up after yourselves in the chalet! We are a volunteer-run club and count on YOU to help keep things clean and running smoothly! Thanks for being part of our community!

Biathlon Update
Biathlon is in full swing! We've had one local race weekend at Blackhawk so far this season and have two local races left, this weekend and on March 1. Thank you to the snowmaking team for making races and practices possible for us with the fluctuating snow conditions.
There have also been a lot of non-local races, with more coming up. Our athletes are doing tremendously well and the work they are putting in shows. In February, we have the Masters Championship for ages 16-80, and in March, the youth Regional Championships. We are excited to see everyone's hard work continue to pay off!
It's never too late to try biathlon out for the first time. The March 1 race will have availability for novice racers to try it out with no previous experience. The link to sign up is here: https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=413279
For any questions about the biathlon program, reach out to Josh at joshua.wilson.215@gmail.com. Adults who want to try biathlon, reach out to Ian Olson at ianolson@gmail.com.
