About Outdoor Exploration

Our goal is to get kids and families outside together to promote:

• Lifelong love of the outdoors
• Appreciation and familiarity of nature and the world around us
• Comfortability and confidence in being outdoors
• Sense of ownership and responsibility in stewardship

And we'll do that through specific events/resources in these program areas:

• Nature study (botany, geology, geography, meteorology, astronomy)
• Outdoor skills (orienteering, knots, camping, cooking, firebuilding, first aid, etc.)
• Parent support/education (book club, gear library, parent how-to events)
• Restoration work and land stewardship (planting, weeding, cataloging, serving)

Program Director

Hi! I'm Jen St.Clair,  and my family and I have been members of Blackhawk since 2021. We boomeranged back to the Midwest after a decade in California, and we are loving Wisconsin life. I live in Fitchburg with my husband Luke, our three daughters Leah, RoryKate & Violet and our pup Henry.
