December Newsletter

A Word from the Board

We want to welcome our new members and take a moment to share what makes Blackhawk unique and the best way for you to to stay informed.

Our sixty-acres of land provide downhill and cross country trails, five ski jumps, our new biathlon facility, and five miles of mountain bike trails. As amazing as our facility is, what makes it truly unique is the fact that the club has thrived for the past 70 years due to the active participation and volunteerism of its members.

If you have a child involved in one of the many programs at Blackhawk, you will receive communications directly from that program area. Please offer to help when you are available. If you ski or bike, but are not involved in a program area, please check out the website regularly for news and to stay up-to-date on ways to help or be more involved.

We believe Blackhawk is a true treasure, both because of the facility and our members.

If you have thoughts or questions, feel free to share them with us at

Join the Blackhawk Ski Patrol

With the ski season only a week away, the ski patrol will be beginning toboggan training very soon. If you have ever considered joining the ski patrol, here is an opportunity for you.  We need a couple enthusiastic people to fill out our 2018-19 toboggan training class.

Becoming a patroller is a unique opportunity to meet a great bunch of people, learn some new life skills, give back to the sport of skiing, and volunteer at Blackhawk.

For more information, contact Ken Matusek at

Still Some Spots Open ...

Although our First and Second Flight lessons are full, there are still some wonderful program options available. Consider openings in the following programs:

Private Lessons - These lessons can either be for individuals or small groups. Form more specific information, contact Guy Perez at

X- Ploration - Blackhawk X-Ploration Team is geared for your skiers (age 8+) interested in developing their abilities in all the program areas offered at Blackhawk. For more specific information, contact our ski school at

Ski Jumping - Is your skier comfortable skiing down Hill #2? Does he or she enjoy getting a little air? Ski jumping might be just the thing! For more specific information, contact Christine Gessner.

Winter Bike Memberships Available

It's time! Winter Biking memberships are now available. For details on these memberships, check out the Membership page

Winter Carnival & Cookout

One of the best ways to meet other Blackhawk members is to participate in the events that we hold...and better yet, to volunteer to help with them. We are hoping to have a Winter Carnival & Cookout on Sunday, February 17th from noon to 3:00 p.m. In the past our Carnival was one of our best attended events because there was something for everyone. The board is excited by the thought of this, but we need help to make it happen. Let us know if you would be interested in helping with any aspect of the fun:

  • Be the contact person for the event
  • Coordinate volunteers
  • Tend to the grills
  • Organize activities/games for the kids
  • Anything else...

We look forward to hearing from you. Contact us to get involved.

Buy/Sell Used Equipment

We are all hoping for snow...lots of snow. Are you ready for it? If you need equipment or have equipment to sell, why not start here?
Go to our website “NOTICES > FORUM DISCUSSIONS > FOR SALE “ or  * You will need to create a NEW name and password to access the Forums area.  It can be the same or different from you club password.
