It's certainly a strange time we are living in, but I hope you all are finding some silver linings to help you get through it. I've certainly enjoyed more quality time with my family.
We've been attending NICA National and Wisconsin NICA meetings and several of the coaches have met to discuss moving forward with the season. Here's the burning question: Can we still have a NICA team or season with COVID restrictions in place? The short answer: Yes, but it will look different from the past. This is going to be the year of ADVENTURE riding rather than racing, and we're looking forward to it!
We will be having one in-person info meeting:
Wednesday, 6/24/20, at 6:00 pm at on the concrete patio by the West Chalet.
Please come with any questions you may have.
Currently there are a limited number of coaches... (hint, hint, wink wink) :-)
The more coaches there are, the more groups we can have and the more opportunities there will be for interested riders. After the quick initial online training, the minimum ask is 2 hours after work, one day per week.
We will not be starting formal practice until 8/1 so we align with the Dane Co. restrictions and the MASD plan for returning to play; however, we will hold shorter intro/ride sessions on the last three Wednesdays in July.
7/15: Blackhawk (bottom of the hill past the West Chalet)
7/22: Blue Mounds (top of the hill in the grassy area)
7/29: Badger Prairie (the parking lot by the dog park)
These will not be full practices, they will be an introduction to how we are going to practice, the location, facilities, and trails at each of the venues. Each of these events will start at 6:00 pm and go for likely an hour.
You will need to have registered in Pitzone and with the Mountain Bike Race Team Program on the Blackhawk Website prior to coming to the July Wednesday practices. Registration will be further discussed at the info meeting.
