MAY 2018

A Word from the Board

We would like to thank everyone who was able to make it to the Annual Meeting on April 16th. It was great to hear about the accomplishments of our youth programs and to take full advantage of the space in our new West Chalet. As a volunteer run club, we hope every member of Blackhawk gets involved at some level with the inner workings of the club. Below you will learn about a couple ways to do so by either sharing your knowledge or by connecting with other members in new programs. Blackhawk is at its best when the talents and ideas of many members are considered and tapped into. We look forward to meeting and working along side you.

If you have questions about ways to become more engaged, please email us at board@blackhawkskiclub.org.

Sincerely,

The Blackhawk Board

Many Thanks...

During our Annual Meeting, members in attendance elected five Blackhawk members to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors. These are three-year terms. The newly elected board members include James Friedman, Amy Grunewald-Mattison, William Lorman, Griff Madigan, and Chad Oistad. We are grateful for their willingness to step-up and serve the club in this manner.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank out-going board members Christine (Girly) Gessner, John Oswald, and Geoff Siemering for the countless hours they have given to Blackhawk throughout the years.

If you ever have questions for the board, please do not hesitate to contact members at board@blackhawkskiclub.org.

Don't Let Your Kids Miss the Fun!

If you haven't signed your kids up for the summer mountain biking program...do it now!!!

The first session begins the first full week of June. The early summer session is for beginner/intermediate riders and will run for six weeks. Kids can either sign up for the Tuesday night session beginning on June 5th or the Thursday night session beginning on June 7th.

The late summer session will offer two options. The first will be another six-week beginner/intermediate class. This will be held on Tuesdays starting on July 24th. The second option is a class for intermediate/advanced riders. It will take place on Thursday evenings beginning on July 26th.

For more information on these classes, check out the mountain biking program on the Blackhawk site or contact Kelley

Announcing the Blackhawk Family Mountain Bike Rides

Tuesdays 7-8 p.m. -- May 29th - August 28th
(East Chalet Trailhead)

You may have noticed that Blackhawk has developed some of the best mountain bike trails in the area. These new "flow" trails are built with kids of all ages in mind -- as well as their parents.

This summer we are planning to invite our members to come out to ride with other families on Tuesday nights from 7-8 p.m. We'll explore the beginner trails and learn more about mountain biking and the trails at Blackhawk and Pleasant View.

All you need is a mountain bike and a helmet. We'll hold an information session and orientation on Tuesday, May 29th at 7 p.m. for anyone interested in learning more about mountain biking or the trails.

No need to RSVP. If it's been raining, check the conditions at Madcitydirt.com or on the club's Facebook page before heading out to Blackhawk.

Interested in Getting More Involved?

The board is always looking for ways to involve members. At the May board meeting four committees were formed. Each committee will be chaired by a board member, but our desire is that they will be comprised of both board members and general club members. Take a look at each committee's focus area and see if you think you might be able to help with any of the items. We would love for you to join a committee or offer to simply help with some of the committee's tasks. Feel free to contact the chairperson if you have questions or want to get involved.
